I was listening to Horses by Patti Smiths today and I realized that it’s probably the only album that I can think of that opens up with a cover (and an excellent cover at that!).

Living in the USA begins with a cover of Chuck Berry’s “Back in the USA.”
Linda Ronstadt begins with a cover of Jackson Browne’s “Rock Me on the Water.”
Silk Purse begins with a cover of Hank Williams’ “Lovesick Blues.”
Etc.
