Retracing bloodlines of my horse, help please?!?
Okay basically, my horse, ky, orginally comes from gypsies, he was mistreated and abused and i am his first caring owner. A friend of mine found him on the side of the road, he didn’t come with any papers, we had to create his passport. But for a rescue horse he is extremely attractive and good form, he also has the prophets thumb print- a sign of very good bloodlines. so i was wondering, does anyone here know where i can retrace his breeding OR do you know of anyone i can contact, a good breeder and dealer? note- Ky is a tri-coloured, 3 yr old. thanks
Sorry to say it, but unless he’s registered, or you can contact the old owners, you’re not going to be able to track his bloodlines. The prophets thumb print thing is a myth, doesn’t really tell much.
There is no DNA test for horse breeding, to the poster above. You can confirm parentage, that’s it.
If you can get ahold of either of his parent’s names, and they are registered, you can trace his bloodlines that way. If he came from gypsies then I’m guessing that he’s not registered, so there’s not really much hope there.
Good for you for rescuing a horse, hope you guys have lots of fun together 
I wouldn’t get too hung up on what breed he is, as long as he’s a nice horse. You could try posting pictures on here to get guesses on his breed anyways.
